Biography

Dr. Solomon Isaac Passy is a Bulgarian scientist, statesman and innovator with a unique national, international and scientific career. He is the founding President of the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria (1990-present), Minister of Foreign Affairs (2001-2005), President of the UN Security Council (2002 and 2003), Chairman of the OSCE (2004), twice Chairman of the Parliamentary Committees on Defence and Foreign Affairs and three times Member of Parliament (1990-1991, 2001-2009). He was the initiator (1990) of Bulgaria’s membership in NATO and the EU and as a minister – 15 years later – negotiated and signed Bulgaria’s accession to both organisations. He holds a PhD in Mathematical Logic and Computer Science with publications in leading world journals.
Today Dr. Solomon Passy and his wife Gergana Passy (European Minister in 2007-2009) have a private consultancy business and run internationally oriented NGOs. They and their team are the initiators of the EU legislation on unified GSM chargers and free access to EU WiFi #WiFi4EU, and he co-authored Bulgaria’s space bill. In 2021 he is the main coordinator of the project “Hello Space, Bulgaria Calling!” which broadcasted with the assistance of NASA (Houston) a live video link of Bulgaria to the International Space Station. Currently his and the Atlantic Club’s efforts are concentrated against aggression and war and in support of Ukraine’s freedom.
